What Is the Difference Between Using Your Mobile Data vs Wi-Fi to Make a Call?

When making a call using the Sonictel Mobile App, you can use either your mobile data or Wi-Fi network, depending on your network connectivity. Here are the main differences between using your mobile data and Wi-Fi to make a call:

  1. Network Connectivity: When making a call over mobile data, you are using the cellular network provided by your carrier. This means you can make calls from anywhere you have a mobile signal. On the other hand, when making a call over Wi-Fi, you need to be connected to the internet to make the call.

  2. Call Quality: The quality of the call can be affected by the network you use. When you have a strong mobile data signal, the call quality is typically good. However, if you are in an area with a weak mobile data signal, the call quality may be poor. In comparison, calls made over a Wi-Fi network can provide high-quality audio, assuming you have a strong and stable Wi-Fi connection.

  3. Data Usage: When making a call over mobile data, it uses your cellular data plan, which can consume a significant amount of data. In contrast, making a call over Wi-Fi typically does not use any of your mobile data plan and instead utilizes your internet connection.

  4. Cost: Making calls over mobile data can be expensive if you have a limited data plan or are roaming internationally. On the other hand, making calls over Wi-Fi is usually free of charge, as long as you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

  5. Availability: Mobile data may not be available in all areas, whereas Wi-Fi can be more widely available.
